S.S.S takes shape as a guerrilla styled happening and is treated as a game. Viewers are acknowledged as participants of the game. The objective of the game is to compose / choreograph a live score via game-base rules upon an improv structured axis. Players must avoid gaps of silence or dissonance between each sound. In order to do this, both players must train in notions of awareness, presence and the ability to sharpen intuition. Sound leads first, gesture follows. Neither of the players should supersede in prominence. The result should form one harmony: body, sound and time — omitting any intentions of hierarchy. Questions to contemplate, “Can sound and movement act synonymously or are they inherently separate?” // “Is sound and movement interchangeable?” // “Which comes first? // “Does sound enable movement? Or does sound act in service to movement?”
Scored by Isaiah Barr, titled, “Strength In Practice” - This composition is a series of dramatic baroque inspired saxophone melodies that lead to a series of samples that conjure feelings of focus and devotion through repetition.
